Halloween Pumpkin Carving

Our first pumpkin carving event at the village hall went off with a bang, we had no less then 14 entries on the day, along with some super excited little humans. It was an action packed afternoon with faces of some serious concentration everywhere, with mums, dads and children all carvings away to make trophy master pieces.

All the children were super well behaved and took to the spirit of the afternoon. Big Horace the spider kept everyone in check as people entered the village hall, spooky, spooky, spooky! The balloon grabbing from the ceiling kept the parents busy and the juniors very excited, as long as there are balloons then it’s a party.

The hall was decorated beautifully, all the helpers and organisers went the extra mile to ensure we had a proper Halloween theme. We had ginger bread men, ginger cakes and sweets on offer to keep everyone energised and fuelled for the afternoon.

The judges for the afternoon had their work cut out, all the entries were amazing and it was a difficult task to pick the junior winners. In the end they made their decisions and announced the winners., with the winning 3 entries all receiving prizes donated by the Swan Pub, which included a free kids meal, a drink and their winning pumpkin carvings got displayed in the Swan for all to admire.

Another special pumpkin was carved out by Cliff Demmon with the Swan logo, a big thank you to Cliff and Lynne for making that happen and donating the pumpkin. That pumpkin later on in the evening went on a full photoshoot around the Pub with our own David Bailey AKA Nick, the pumpkin was having its best life that evening.

Finally just a big thank you to all the volunteers for making this a very special afternoon for the children of the village. Without them nothing would be possible, they give up their spare time to help support the community. Also a further thank you to Dale and his team at the Swan, for collaborating with the village hall, donating the pumpkins and the prizes.

We are already planning for next years event and look forward to seeing you all there again, keep an eye on the website and the our socials to see next years event calendar which should be available early in new year.
